A Study on Dyeing of Compound Herbal Extracts on Cotton Knitted Fabric

Abstract :

Clothing and textiles play an important role in human history by keeping infectious and toxic material away from the body. Natural dyes are eco–friendly dyes which are derived from plants and minerals and traced back more than 5000 years. A small variation in the dyeing technique or the use of different mordant with the same dye creates totally new colors. A study was under taken to find out the effect of selected herbs on cotton knitted faic with different mordant. Color fastness of dyed faics was assessed. Depth of shade and evenness of dye was also evaluated.
