Investigation of Molecular Interaction in Ternary Liquid Mixtures by Viscosity and Ultrasonic Velocity Measurement at 303, 308 and 313K

T. Sumathi, U. Gnanasheela

Abstract :

The ultrasonic velocity, density and viscosity have been measured for the mixtures of cyclohexane with n–butyl acetate in 1–propanol, 1–butanol, 1–pentanol and 1–hexanol at 303, 308 and 313K. The experimental data have been used to calculate the acoustical parameters namely free volume (Vf), internal pressure (πi), relaxation time (τ), molar volume (Vm) and excess values of Vf, πi and Vm. These parameters especially excess functions are found to be more sensitive towards the nature and the extent of intermolecular interactions in the ternary liquid mixtures.
