Marital Adjustment of Working Married Women and Non–Working Married Women of Jammu Province Jammu and Kashmir (India)

Abstract :
Marriage in reality is a way of living. The adjustment and marital relationship are major challenges in the most of the families. This study aimed at finding out marital adjustment problems faced by non-working married women and working married women of Jammu and Kashmir city. A sample of 100 women (50 working married women and 50 non-working married women) is selected randomly. For this study “Marital Adjustment Inventory developed by Dr Parmod Kumar and Kanchan Rohatagiwas” used for data collection. T-test statistics was used to test the objective at 0.01 and 0.05 level of significance. Results revealed that working married women faces marital adjustment problem in a greater degree to that of non-working married women. We can say that working married women because of added responsibilities of job may suffer from more severe cause of maladjustment at home or in the office.
