Feempowerment Of Ruralities In India Through MGNREGS: A Bird�s Eyesight

Abstract :

MGNREGS is one of the most significant and progressive legislations enacted by enforcing the right to work as an enforceable legal entitlement in general and specifically an unique employment opportunity for rural women. The Act mandates that at least one-third of the workers should be women, equal wages for both men and women and availability of child care facilities at the worksite etc has enhanced the participation of women in workforce. The main attraction for the increasing predominance of women are it is golocal, the wages paid through MGNREGS better than market rate and paid directly, less exploitative, flexibility , dignified work and it has also curbed migration. Erstwhile they would have seldom got any chance to earn their own income without any hassle and this many a time gave a hindrance for active participation of women in workforce. In this paper an attempt has been drawn to focus on the empowerment of rural women through MGNREGS.
