Shobha Des treatment of sex in Starry Nights
Chetan J. Marakana
Abstract :
De has been called as the best champion of a new type of novel. She keeps a weather watch on the style of natural sexual life and mirrors it in the novels. The novel offers a description about Aasha, a promising actress, who is struggling for setting up herself in Bombay Film Industry, the forest of sex seekers. Shobha De takes care of sex as a healthy act; clearly she looks forward to the same form her male equivalent. Her female characters are apparently free and absolutely open about bed. Each character in this novel is aware of bed as battleground. She realizes sex for herself extremely open and frank. She forces us to imagine female like neither “second sex” nor “weaker sex”.
