Mainstreaming Microfinance through Non–governmental Organizations (NGOs): A case Study of Rayagada District of Odisha State

Abstract :

In recent years, while the significance of the state has diminished, the role of non–governmental organizations (NGOs) has increased in most developing countries. The provision of services to the poor is by definition always difficult, and even NGOs have problems. Recently, microcredit has become a fashionable cure–all for most NGOs. This paper unveils to evaluate the impacts of NGOs in extending small loans to poor who work in the informal economy towards financial empowerment and independence.
