Persistent Left Superior Vena Cava Diagnosed Antenatally by Fetal Echocardiography � A Rare in Occurrence Case Report

Abstract :

<p>Persistent left superior vena cava is rare but important congenital vascular anomaly. It is the most common congenital thoracic venous anomaly with a prevalence of 0.3&ndash;0.5% in general population. It results when the left superior cardinal vein caudal to the innominate vein fails to regress. It is most commonly observed in isolation but can be associated with other cardiovascular abnormalities including atrial septal defect, bicuspid aortic valve, coarctation of aorta, coronary sinus ostial atresia, and cor triatriatum. Here we describe a case of 29 year old female who reported to us for regular antenatal growth scan was found to have persistent left superior vena cavae draining into coronary sinus at 30 weeks and 5 days of gestational age.</p>
