Consumer Awareness and Preferences towards Ayurvedic Cosmetic Products in Coimbatore City

Abstract :
Today, everybody is interested in showing their physical appearance as beauty. Moreover, they prefer to safeguard themselves from health hazards by using various cosmetic items. The reason is that number of companies is manufacturing both chemical and ayurvedic based cosmetic products. Initially, herbal products have low market. Then, the acceptance of herbal products is increasing in India and international markets also. This was happened after realizing the side effects of chemical based cosmetic products. In this context, the researchers have decided to conduct the field study relating to consumer awareness and preferences towards ayurvedic cosmetic products in Coimbatore city. In order to improve the quality of the research, the researchers have decided to compare the awareness and preferences of consumers towards ayurvedic and non–ayurvedic cosmetic products. The statistical tools like chi–square test and rank analysis are used to find the significant relationship prevailing between personal factors of respondents and various aspects of the products. The main findings of the study in that occupation is significantly influence to buy ayurvedic cosmetic. Hence, the researchers suggested that the manufacturers of cosmetic products showed conduct a survey for knowing the consumers need. If so, the manufacturers can improve their product and sales also.
