Abstract :

<p>&nbsp;<span style="font-family: &quot;Times New Roman&quot;, serif; font-size: 12pt; text-align: justify;">56 patients undergoing OPCABG surgery were randomly divided in to two groups.Study group received</span><span style="font-family: &quot;Times New Roman&quot;, serif; font-size: 12pt; text-align: justify;">&nbsp; </span><span style="font-family: &quot;Times New Roman&quot;, serif; font-size: 12pt; text-align: justify;">general anesthesia plus thoracic epidural anesthesia(GA+TEA) and control group received general anesthesia(GA) .Hemodynamic parameters, requirement of opioids,vasodilators and inotrops were compared between two groups.Total fluid balance and myocardial injury markers (Trop T and CK-MB) were assessed.Postoperative recovery and incidence of compications were also compared among both the groups.We</span><span style="font-family: &quot;Times New Roman&quot;, serif; font-size: 12pt; text-align: justify;">&nbsp; </span><span style="font-family: &quot;Times New Roman&quot;, serif; font-size: 12pt; text-align: justify;">found that mean arterial pressure and requirement of opiods,vasodiltaors and inotropes decreased significantly in GA+TEA group.Total fluid balance was significantly less in GA+TEA group.Number of Troponin T positive </span><span style="font-family: &quot;Times New Roman&quot;, serif; font-size: 12pt; text-align: justify;">&nbsp;</span><span style="font-family: &quot;Times New Roman&quot;, serif; font-size: 12pt; text-align: justify;">and CK-MB levels significantly increased in GA group at 9hr.Postoperative recovery</span><span style="font-family: &quot;Times New Roman&quot;, serif; font-size: 12pt; text-align: justify;">&nbsp; </span><span style="font-family: &quot;Times New Roman&quot;, serif; font-size: 12pt; text-align: justify;">was earlier and complications were less in GA+TEA group.Based on our data GA+TEA for OPCABG surgery appears to be most comprehensive anesthetic technique</span>< /> <span style="font-size:12.0pt;line-height:200%;font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif;&#10;mso-fareast-font-family:Calii;mso-fareast-theme-font:minor-latin;mso-ansi-language:&#10;EN-US;mso-fareast-language:EN-US;mso-bidi-language:AR-SA">< clear="all" style="page-eak-before:always;mso-eak-type:section-eak" /> </span></p>
