ASSESSMENT OF SUBJECTIVE WELL BEING AMONG PTSD AND NON PTSD ADOLESCENTS: A COMPARATIVE STUDY

Abstract :
<p> <b style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size:10.0pt;mso-bidi-font-size: 11.0pt;line-height:200%;font-family:"Times New Roman",serif;mso-fareast-font-family: Calii">Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is a severe anxiety disorder that can develop after exposure to any event or events that result in psychological trauma. Its symptoms can affect every life domain – physiological, psychological, occupational and social. The present study has been done to </span></b><b style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size:10.0pt;mso-bidi-font-size:11.0pt;line-height:200%;font-family: "Times New Roman",serif">identify and assess subjective well being of PTSD adolescents</span></b><b style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size:10.0pt;mso-bidi-font-size: 11.0pt;line-height:200%;font-family:"Times New Roman",serif;mso-fareast-font-family: Calii">. The study was conducted on </span></b><b style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size:10.0pt;mso-bidi-font-size:11.0pt;line-height: 200%;font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">1234 PTSD and 1270 non PTSD</span></b><b style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size:10.0pt;mso-bidi-font-size: 11.0pt;line-height:200%;font-family:"Times New Roman",serif;mso-fareast-font-family: Calii"> adolescents of schools from Meerut city. Tool used for data collection was Trauma screen + Child PTSD </span></b><b style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size:10.0pt;mso-bidi-font-size:11.0pt;line-height: 200%;font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">symptom Scale (Foe et al, 2001), Satisfaction with Life Scale (Diner et al, 1985). </span></b><b style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size:10.0pt;mso-bidi-font-size: 11.0pt;line-height:200%;font-family:"Times New Roman",serif;mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman"">SPSS version 20.0 for windows was used to analyze and interpret the data. The data were analyzed by frequency, percentage, Mean, SD, t-value and p-value. The result reveled </span></b><b style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size:10.0pt;mso-bidi-font-size:11.0pt;line-height: 200%;font-family:"Times New Roman",serif;mso-fareast-font-family:Calii">that out of 2504 adolescents (1234 PTSD and 1270 Non PTSD) the subjective well being is lower among PTSD adolescents in comparison with Non PTSD adolescents.</span></b></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify;line-height:200%"><b><span style="font-size:10.0pt;mso-bidi-font-size:11.0pt;line-height: 200%;font-family:"Times New Roman",serif;mso-fareast-font-family:Calii"><strong><o:p></o:p></strong></span></b></p>
