A STUDY OF VALUES OF SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENTS IN RELATON TO THEIR HOME ENVIRONMENT

Abstract :

<p>&nbsp;<span style="text-align: justify; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 150%; font-family: &quot;Times New Roman&quot;, serif;">The present study was undertaken to study </span><span style="text-align: justify; font-family: &quot;Times New Roman&quot;, serif;">the </span><span style="text-align: justify; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 150%; font-family: &quot;Times New Roman&quot;, serif;">values of senior secondary school students in relation to</span><span style="text-align: justify; font-family: &quot;Times New Roman&quot;, serif;"> their home environment. Values were </span><span style="text-align: justify; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 150%; font-family: &quot;Times New Roman&quot;, serif;">treated as dependent variables whereas home environment was treated as independent variable. Descriptive survey method was used for the present study. Random sampling technique was used to select the sample for the present study. The sample comprised of 600 senior secondary students of private schools affiliated to Central Board of School Education (CBSE)<i>.</i> Home environment inventory by Mishra (2012) and </span><span style="text-align: justify; font-family: &quot;Times New Roman&quot;, serif;">Personal Value Questionnaire<b> </b>by Sherry and Verma (2012)</span><span style="text-align: justify; font-family: &quot;Times New Roman&quot;, serif;"> </span><span style="text-align: justify; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 150%; font-family: &quot;Times New Roman&quot;, serif;">were used to study the effect of home environment on values of senior secondary school students. </span><span style="text-align: justify; font-family: &quot;Times New Roman&quot;, serif;">Mean, S.D., </span><span style="text-align: justify; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 150%; font-family: &quot;Times New Roman&quot;, serif;">&lsquo;t&rsquo; test </span><span style="text-align: justify; font-family: &quot;Times New Roman&quot;, serif;">and Coefficient of correlations (r) </span><span style="text-align: justify; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 150%; font-family: &quot;Times New Roman&quot;, serif;">were used to analyse the data. The findings of the study revealed that </span><span style="text-align: justify; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 150%; font-family: &quot;Times New Roman&quot;, serif;">significant relationship exists between home environment and values of senior secondary school students.<b> </b>It was also found that the values of senior secondary school students with high and low home environment differ significantly.
