INFLUENCE OF ABDOMINAL AND HAMSTRING MUSCLE ACTIVATION EXERCISES OVER ILIOTIBIAL BAND STRETCHING ON A POSITIVE OBERS TEST IN SUBJECTS WITH LOW BACK PAIN

Abstract :
<p> <b style="text-align: justify;"><span lang="EN-IN" style="font-size:10.0pt;line-height:150%;font-family:"Times New Roman",serif; mso-fareast-font-family:Calii;mso-ansi-language:EN-IN">Background and Purpose: </span></b><span lang="EN-IN" style="text-align: justify; font-size: 10pt; line-height: 150%; font-family: "Times New Roman", serif;">To check the immediate influence of abdominal and hamstring muscle activation exercises over iliotibial band stretching<b> </b>on pain level as measured by VAS and hip adduction range </span><b style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size:10.0pt;line-height:150%;font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Methods:</span></b><span style="text-align: justify; font-size: 10pt; line-height: 150%; font-family: "Times New Roman", serif;">30 subjects with low back pain and positive ober’s test were randomly allocated into two groups. Group A was provided with passive stretch on Iliotibial band. And Group B completed exercises to recruit abdominal and hamstring muscle which are developed by Postural Research Institute</span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt;text-align: justify;line-height:150%"><b><span style="font-size:10.0pt;line-height:150%;font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Results: </span></b><span style="font-size:10.0pt;line-height:150%;font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Significant increase in passive hip adduction range (p<0.01) and decrease in pain (p<0.01) was identified in Group B<o:p></o:p></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt;text-align: justify;line-height:150%"><b><span style="font-size:10.0pt;line-height:150%;font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Conclusion:</span></b><span style="font-size:10.0pt;line-height:150%;font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"> Exercises activating Abdominal and Hamstring muscle shows immediate effect by improving ober’s test and reduce low back pain.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
