Comparison between Effects of 1 MHz versus 3 MHz frequency of Ultrasound on Extensibility of tight plantar flexors

Abstract :

<p>&nbsp;<span style="font-size: 14pt; text-align: justify;">The present study has been conducted to compare the effects of two frequencies of Ultrasound for increasing the extensibility of plantar flexors.</span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify;line-height:200%"><o:p></o:p></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height:200%"><span style="font-size:14.0pt;&#10;line-height:200%">&nbsp;Method: 50 subjects with tight plantar were randomly assigned to two groups Group A and Group B. 25 subjects were allotted in each group. Group A was given 1 MHz frequency ultrasound before static stretching. Group B was given 3 MHz frequency ultrasound before static stretching. Dorsiflexion range was measured (with knee flexion and extension) at day 1 and after 6 weeks of treatment.<o:p></o:p></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height:200%"><span style="font-size:14.0pt;&#10;line-height:200%">Result- Mean diff (0-6) weeks for Dorsiflexion Active R.O.M. with Knee Flexion and Extension was 7.88+2.00&amp; 8.24+2.20 respectively for group A and 5.28+1.42 &amp; 5.72+1.67 respectively for group B.</span> <o:p></o:p></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height:200%"><span style="font-size:14.0pt;&#10;line-height:200%">Mean diff (0-6) weeks for Dorsiflexion Passive R.O.M. with Knee Flexion and Extension was 8.04+1.74&amp; 8.36+1.93 respectively for group A and 5.28+1.88 &amp; 5.08+1.80 respectively for group B.<o:p></o:p></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height:200%"><span style="font-size:14.0pt;&#10;line-height:200%">&nbsp;Conclusion- Among the two frequencies use of 1 MHz ultrasound before stretching may be more effective for increasing ankle dorsiflexion R.O.M.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
