Novel synthesis and spectral study of Co (II) complexes derived from the ligands containing O.N,S donar atoms

Abstract :

<p>&nbsp;<span style="text-align: justify; font-size: 12pt; font-family: &quot;Times New Roman&quot;, serif;">Thiosemicarbazones&nbsp; were synthesized by refluxing&nbsp;&nbsp; 5-chloro 2-hydroxy acetophenone and thiosemicarbazide in the mole ratio 1:1.The complexes of thiosemicarbazoneswith Co(II) were synthesized by refluxing thiosemicarbazone and Co (II)&nbsp; chloride in the mole ratio 1:2.Thethiosemicarbazones and Co (II) complexes were characterized by Elemental analysis,ESI-MS,IRspectroscopy,UV-Visible, Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (<sup>1</sup>HNMR and <sup>13</sup>C-NMR) spectroscopy magnetism and conductivity measurement. The metal complexes and thiosemicarbazone were tested against bacterialparasites.</span><span style="text-align: justify; font-size: 12pt; font-family: &quot;Times New Roman&quot;, serif;"> The free radical scavenging activity of synthesized compounds was screened for antioxidant activity.</span><span style="text-align: justify; font-size: 12pt; font-family: &quot;Times New Roman&quot;, serif;"> It was found that the &nbsp;complexes are more biologically active than&nbsp; thiosemicarbazone.</span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt;text-align:&#10;justify;line-height:normal;mso-layout-grid-align:none;text-autospace:none"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif;&#10;mso-fareast-font-family:TimesNewRomanPSMT"><o:p></o:p></span></p>
