Analysis of Streptokinase as fibrinolytic agent in patients with ST elevation Myocardial Infarction

Abstract :

<p>&nbsp;<b style="text-align: justify;"><span lang="EN-IN" style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 200%; font-family: &quot;Times New Roman&quot;, serif;">Introduction:</span></b><span lang="EN-IN" style="text-align: justify; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 200%; font-family: &quot;Times New Roman&quot;, serif;"> Acute Myocardial Infarction (AMI) is one of the clinical presentations of ischemic heart disease.<sup>1</sup></span><span lang="EN-IN" style="text-align: justify; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 200%; font-family: &quot;Times New Roman&quot;, serif;">Myocardial Infarction is the most common contributor of morbidity and mortality worldwide.</span><span lang="EN-IN" style="text-align: justify; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 200%; font-family: &quot;Times New Roman&quot;, serif;"> In 2000, the First Global MI Task Force presented a new definition of MI, which implied that any necrosis in the setting of myocardial ischaemia should be labelled as MI.<sup> </sup>The term (<i>ACS) </i>acute coronary syndrome was adopted because it was believed to more clearly reflect the disease progression associated with myocardial ischemia. Unstable angina and Myocardial Infarction (MI) both come under the ACS umella.<sup> </sup>Thrombolysis<span class="apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span>involves the administration of medication that activates the<span class="apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span>enzymes that normally destroy blood clots. Use of streptokinase as a thrombolytic agent is very common.</span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt;text-align:&#10;justify;line-height:200%;mso-layout-grid-align:none;text-autospace:none"><span lang="EN-IN" style="font-size: 12pt; line-height: 200%; font-family: &quot;Times New Roman&quot;, serif;">&nbsp;</span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt;text-align:&#10;justify;line-height:200%;mso-layout-grid-align:none;text-autospace:none"><b><span lang="EN-IN" style="font-size: 12pt; line-height: 200%; font-family: &quot;Times New Roman&quot;, serif;">Methods:</span></b><span lang="EN-IN" style="font-size: 12pt; line-height: 200%; font-family: &quot;Times New Roman&quot;, serif;"> Done a prospective study, includes 50 patients,<span style="background-image: initial; background-position: initial; background-size: initial; background-repeat: initial; background-attachment: initial; background-origin: initial; background-clip: initial;"> All patients above 18 years of age presented with chest pain, Electrocardiogram proven ST elevation Myocardial Infarction will be included in this study. A detailed history and thorough examination will be done. Patient receiving streptokinase as thrombolytic therapy in duration with time frame has been evaluated.. On the basis of that the effectiveness of streptokinase in ST Elevation Myocardial Infarction will be measure. This study is used to identify the streptokinase success in STEMI in respect with time.<o:p></o:p></span></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 4.5pt 0in; text-align: justify; line-height: 200%; background-image: initial; background-position: initial; background-size: initial; background-repeat: initial; background-attachment: initial; background-origin: initial; background-clip: initial;"><b><span lang="EN-IN" style="font-size: 12pt; line-height: 200%; font-family: &quot;Times New Roman&quot;, serif; background-image: initial; background-position: initial; background-size: initial; background-repeat: initial; background-attachment: initial; background-origin: initial; background-clip: initial;">Results: </span></b><span lang="EN-IN" style="font-size: 12pt; line-height: 200%; font-family: &quot;Times New Roman&quot;, serif; background-image: initial; background-position: initial; background-size: initial; background-repeat: initial; background-attachment: initial; background-origin: initial; background-clip: initial;">Within 1<sup>st</sup> hour, 5 patients out of 6 patients were recovered, where 83.3% calculated as successful rate of fiinolytic therapy. In 2<sup>nd</sup> hour, 12 patients out of 19 patients were recovered, where 63.2 % calculated as successful rate. Similarly in 3<sup>rd</sup> and 4<sup>th</sup> hour, the successful rate was approx. 66.7% and 42.9 percent respectively. Overall successful rate of fiinolytic therapy as streptokinase in STEMI was 64 %.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
