Abstract :
<p><p>&nbsp; The cobalt manganese ferrospinels with the general formula CoxMn(1&ndash;x)Fe2O4(x = 0.0, 0.2, 0.4, 0.6, 0.8 and 1.0 has been&nbsp;</p> <div>successfully synthesized by controlled low temperature hydroxide co&ndash;precipitation method. The cobalt manganese&nbsp;</div> <div>ferrospinels exhibit a well defined crystalline structure with high surface area. The physicochemical properties of the&nbsp;</div> <div>ferrospinels are characterized by X&ndash;ray diffraction, Inductively coupled plasma analysis and surface area determination by BET method. The&nbsp;</div> <div>stoichiometry of the samples was in good agreement with the theoretical values. The surface acidity of the systems was determined by NH3&ndash;</div> <div>TPD method. The addition of cobalt ions into the pure manganese ferrospinels enhances the acidity in the weak and medium regions. These&nbsp;</div> <div>ferrospinel systems were found to be active for the liquid phase Friedel&ndash;Craft&rsquo;s acylation of deactivated benzenes with benzoyl chloride giving&nbsp;</div> <div>corresponding ketones. Acidity of the catalysts in the weak and medium regions is mainly responsible for the good catalytic performance .</div></p>
