Reproductive Health Problems and Health Seeking Behaviour Among Adolescent Girls of Villupuram District, Tamilnadu

Abstract :

<p>&nbsp;Aim : To study the knowledge and health seeking behavior of &nbsp;adolescent girls for reproductive health and educate regarding the improvement of their &nbsp;health status and about family life.. Methodology: &nbsp; In order to accomplish the aim of the study, both qualitative and quantitative research methods were adopted. . Structured questions on various components of reproductive health issues were included in it. It consists of questions on knowledge related to menstruation, practices related to menstruation, frequency of change, and disposal of sanitary pads, symptoms suggestive of RTIs, knowledge and practices related to emergency contraception The study was conducted on &nbsp;adolescent girls (11-17 years)&nbsp; in and around villages of villupuram town, villupuram district through house to house survey. &nbsp;Purpose of the study was explained, and informed consent was obtained from adolescent girls .Proforma was given and&nbsp; privacy was maintained while filling up the proforma. Second attempt was done to contact girls who could not be contacted on first contact due to absenteeism.. At the same time they will be educated regarding improvement of&nbsp; their health status and knowledge regarding&nbsp; reproductive health.</p>
