HISTOPATHOLOGICAL STUDY OF GASTRIC POLYPS

Abstract :
<p> <b style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size:16.0pt;line-height: 200%;font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Background : </span></b><span style="text-align: justify; font-size: 16pt; line-height: 200%; font-family: "Times New Roman", serif;">Polyps are common in stomach due to gastritis and chronic treatment with PPI (Proton Pump Inhibitors) as per review of literature. Morphological study of polyps helps us to know the incidence and malignant transformation of polyps.</span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify;line-height:200%"><b><span style="font-size:16.0pt;line-height: 200%;font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Aims and Objectives : </span></b><span style="font-size:16.0pt;line-height:200%;font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">To study the incidence and morphology of Gastric Polyps. <o:p></o:p></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify;line-height:200%"><b><span style="font-size:16.0pt;line-height: 200%;font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Materials and Methods : </span></b><span style="font-size:16.0pt;line-height:200%;font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Prospective study, 36 gastric polyps were reported which include both endoscopic biopsies (polypectomy) and resection specimens.<o:p></o:p></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify;line-height:200%"><b><span style="font-size:16.0pt;line-height: 200%;font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Observation and Results : </span></b><span style="font-size:16.0pt;line-height:200%;font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">The commonest site of involvement was antrum and the commonest lesion was hyperplastic polyps.<o:p></o:p></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify;line-height:200%"><b><span style="font-size:16.0pt;line-height: 200%;font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Conclusion : </span></b><span style="font-size:16.0pt;line-height:200%;font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Hyperplastic polyps are more common in stomach and further study are required to know the malignant transformation.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
