A COMPARATIVE STUDY OF CORROSION INHIBITIVE EFFECTS OF SOME SCHIFF BASES ON METAL IN ACIDIC MEDIUM

Abstract :

<p>&nbsp;<span style="text-align: justify; text-indent: 0.5in; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 150%; font-family: &quot;Times New Roman&quot;, serif; letter-spacing: -0.05pt;">Mass loss techniques have been employed to study the corrosion inhibition of some </span><span style="text-align: justify; text-indent: 0.5in; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 150%; font-family: &quot;Times New Roman&quot;, serif; letter-spacing: 0.05pt;">newly synthesized Schiff bases viz. N-(2- Methoxy bezalidine)-2- Amino pyrimidine (SB1), N&shy;</span><span style="text-align: justify; text-indent: 0.5in; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 150%; font-family: &quot;Times New Roman&quot;, serif; letter-spacing: -0.15pt;">(3-Methoxy benzalidine)-2- Amino pyrazine(SB2) for copper metal in HC1 solutions. Results of </span><span style="text-align: justify; text-indent: 0.5in; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 150%; font-family: &quot;Times New Roman&quot;, serif;">inhibition efficiencies from the mass loss technique show that Schiff bases are good inhibitors in <span style="letter-spacing:.05pt">acidic solution. Inhibition efficiency increases with the increase in the concentration of acid as </span>well as those of inhibitors. Maximum inhibition efficiency is shown at highest concentration of Schiff bases at the highest concentration of acid.</span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify;text-indent:.5in;line-height:150%"><span style="font-size: 12pt; line-height: 150%; font-family: &quot;Times New Roman&quot;, serif;"><o:p></o:p></span></p>
