Prospective analysis of outcomes of operated subaxial cervical spine injuries

Abstract :

<p>&nbsp;Aim: To determine the frequency and distribution of odontogenic cysts in pediatric population from a major tertiary dental care institution in Kerala. Materials and Methods: Archives of biopsy reports were retrieved from the Department of Oral Pathology, Government Dental College, Kozhikode from January 2001 through December 2016. Histologicaly diagnosed cases of odontogenic cysts in children and adolescents &le; 19 years were included. Data was analyzed for age, gender, anatomic site and histopathologic type. Results: 217 cases of odontogenic cysts were identified which accounted 23.54% of all pediatric cases. Of these 121 cases (55.76%) were developmental and 96 cases (44.24%) were inflammatory in origin. Majority of cases showed a male predominance (53%) and were mostly located in the anterior maxilla. Conclusion: &nbsp;Odontogenic cysts in children and adolescents are commonly developmental cysts, with a male predominance and mostly located in the anterior maxilla.&nbsp;</p>
