Scope of Research in Pain Management through Panchakarma

Abstract :
<p> </p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify;text-justify:inter-ideograph; line-height:200%"><b style="mso-bidi-font-weight:normal"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;line-height:200%;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"">Background</span></b><span style="font-size:12.0pt;line-height:200%;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"">: Pain is the most common clinical presentation in every, day to day OPD’s and IPD’s. </span><span style="font-size:12.0pt;mso-bidi-font-size:13.0pt; line-height:200%;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif";background:white">Globally, it has been estimated that 1 in 5 adults suffer from pain and that another 1 in 10 adults are diagnosed with chronic pain each year <sup>[1]</sup>.</span><span style="mso-bidi-font-size:12.0pt;line-height:200%;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif""> </span><span style="font-size:12.0pt;line-height:200%;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"">Panchakarma procedures form the back bone of samsodhana therapy (purification) in Ayurveda. The complete spectrum of Panchakarma include clinically well potent purvakarma and paschaat karma procedures also which is very promising as far as pain management is concerned. <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight:normal">Aim</b>: The present article aims at exploring the scope of research in management of pain through panchakarma procedures.<o:p></o:p></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify;text-justify:inter-ideograph; line-height:200%"><b style="mso-bidi-font-weight:normal"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;line-height:200%;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"">Review results</span></b><span style="font-size:12.0pt;line-height:200%;font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"">:<o:p></o:p></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify;text-justify:inter-ideograph; line-height:200%"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;line-height:200%;font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"">Pain management strategy through Panchakarma therapy has to be designed and standardized on scientific lines which should be systematic, practical and cost-effective.<o:p></o:p></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify;text-justify:inter-ideograph; line-height:200%"><b style="mso-bidi-font-weight:normal"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;line-height:200%;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"">Discussion</span></b><span style="font-size:12.0pt;line-height:200%;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif""> :<o:p></o:p></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify;text-justify:inter-ideograph; line-height:200%"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;line-height:200%;font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"">Panchakarma forms as an effective pain management strategy whether it is acute or chronic in nature.
