In this study, 100 patients (ASA I-II) of either sex between 12-70 years of age, undergoing elective surgical procedure were randomly divided into two groups (A &amp; B) of 50 each. Group A received thiopentone and group B received propofol as induction agents. They were further divided into 3 groups (1,2 and 3) -1 was control group, 2 was low haemoglobin group (&lt;12 gm%) and 3 was low serum protein group (&lt;6mg%).</span><span style="font-size:12.0pt;line-height:115%;&#10;font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,&quot;serif&quot;;mso-fareast-font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;"><o:p></o:p></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal"><b style="mso-bidi-font-weight:normal"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;line-height:115%;font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,&quot;serif&quot;;&#10;mso-fareast-font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;">Results </span></b><span style="font-size:12.0pt;line-height:115%;font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,&quot;serif&quot;">Requirement of thiopentone was significantly decreased in low haemoglobin group (23.74%) and low protein group (13.03%) (p&lt;0.05) as compared to control group. Similarly, requirement of propofol was also significantly decreased in low haemoglobin (30.84%) and low protein group (26.15%) (p&lt;0.05) as compared to control group.<o:p></o:p></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt;text-align:&#10;justify;text-justify:inter-ideograph"><b style="mso-bidi-font-weight:normal"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;line-height:115%;font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,&quot;serif&quot;;&#10;mso-fareast-font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;">Conclusion</span></b><span style="font-size:12.0pt;line-height:115%;font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,&quot;serif&quot;"> It was concluded that the dose of induction should be reduced in anaemic and malnourished patients and the dose should be titrated according to clinical effects along with mg/kg dose basis</span><span style="font-size:12.0pt;&#10;line-height:115%;font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,&quot;serif&quot;;mso-fareast-font-family:&#10;&quot;Times New Roman&quot;"><o:p></o:p></span></p>
