It usually affects children and young adults. The transparent cystic swelling is bluish in colour and soft in consistency. It is of traumatic origin, formed when the main duct of salivary gland is torn, with subsequent extravasation of mucous into the fious connective tissue so that a cyst like cavity is produced. We report a case of mucocele on the lower lip treated by surgical excision.
