AIRWAY COMPLIANCE IN LAPROSCOPIC SURGERY - PRESSURE CONTROL VENTILATION Vs VOLUME CONTROL VENTILATION

Abstract :
<p> <b><span style="font-size:16.0pt; line-height:150%;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"">INTRODUCTION</span></b></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height:150%"><span style="font-size:14.0pt; line-height:150%;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"">Laparoscopic surgery is one of the most important diagnostic and therapeutic tools in the present surgical era.</span> <span style="font-size:14.0pt;line-height:150%;font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"">Laparoscopic surgery has many benefits for patients, including minimally invasive surgery, reduced postoperative pain and fewer wound-related complications.</span> <span style="font-size:14.0pt;line-height: 150%;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"">Respiratory changes occur due to raised IAP and Trendelenburg positioning.<o:p></o:p></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height:150%"><b><span style="font-size:16.0pt; line-height:150%;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"">AIMS AND OBJECTIVES<o:p></o:p></span></b></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height:150%"><span style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 150%; font-family: "Times New Roman", serif;">Comparative effect of Volume control ventilation and pressure control ventilation on airway compliance in laproscopic surgery<o:p></o:p></span></p> <p class="MsoListParagraph" style="text-indent:-.25in;line-height:150%; mso-list:l0 level1 lfo1"><!--[if !supportLists]--><span style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 150%; font-family: Wingdings;">Ø<span style="font-variant-numeric: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-stretch: normal; font-size: 7pt; line-height: normal; font-family: "Times New Roman";"> </span></span><!--[endif]--><span style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 150%;">Airway compliance <o:p></o:p></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height:150%"><span style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 150%; font-family: "Times New Roman", serif;">( static and dynamic compliance)<o:p></o:p></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height:90%"><span style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 90%; font-family: "Times New Roman", serif;"> </span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height:150%"><b><span style="font-size: 16pt; line-height: 150%; font-family: "Times New Roman", serif;">MATERIAL AND METHODS <o:p></o:p></span></b></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height:150%"><span style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 150%; font-family: "Times New Roman", serif;">After the approval of ethical committee, 82 ASA grade 1 and 2 patients of age 18-65 years undergoing laproscopic surgery were included in study and randomly allotted in 2 groups :<o:p></o:p></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height:150%"><span style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 150%; font-family: "Times New Roman", serif;"> </span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height:150%"><span style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 150%; font-family: "Times New Roman", serif;">Group P ( n = 41) : pressure control ventilation mode<o:p></o:p></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height:150%"><span style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 150%; font-family: "Times New Roman", serif;">Group V ( n = 41) : volume control ventilation mode<o:p></o:p></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height:150%"><span style="font-size:14.0pt; line-height:150%;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"">After induction of anaesthesia , airway compliance in terms of ( static compliance C<sub>stat </sub>, dynamic compliance C<sub>dyn </sub>) were noted at T<sub>1 </sub>–baseline after induction , 10 minutes , 30 minutes , 60 minutes , 90 minutes after pneumogeneration , 10 minutes after cessation of pneumogeneration .<o:p></o:p></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height:150%"><b><span style="font-size:16.0pt; line-height:150%;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"">RESULT<o:p></o:p></span></b></p> <p><span style="font-size:14.0pt;line-height:107%;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"; mso-fareast-font-family:Calii;mso-fareast-theme-font:minor-latin;mso-ansi-language: EN-US;mso-fareast-language:EN-US;mso-bidi-language:HI">Dynamic and Static compliance were significantly higher in group P as compared to group V after generation of pneumoperitoneum</span></p>
