MICROFILARIA IN BONE MARROW ASPIRATE: A CASE REPORT

Abstract :
<p> <span style="text-align: justify;">Wuchereria bancrofti is the most common parasite causing lymphatic filariasis.</span><span style="text-align: justify;"> </span><span style="text-align: justify;">Microfilariae are dem­onstrated in the peripheral blood, body fluids, fine needle aspirates and in onchial ushings but it is an uncommon finding in the bone marrow.</span>< /> <span lang="EN-IN" style="font-size:12.0pt;line-height:115%;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"; mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Roman";mso-fareast-theme-font:minor-fareast; mso-ansi-language:EN-IN;mso-fareast-language:EN-IN;mso-bidi-language:AR-SA"> We report a case of a 45-year old male who presented with pyrexia of unknown origin and on peripheral blood and bone marrow examination found to have pan­cytopaenia with megaloblastoid changes in the bone marrow and W. bancrofti microfilariae</span></p>
