Emotional Intelligence–A Descriptive Study Among Software Professionals

Abstract :

Emotional intelligence refers to the ability to perceive, control and evaluate emotions. Some suggest that emotional intelligence can be learned, strengthened, while other claim it is an inborn of characteristic. From the thorough learning it is understood that emotional intelligence of an IT person is calculated through the stress level. Stress has always been a part of our lives, more so now with the advent of latest technology and the competition among businesses to always be on the forefront. Expectancies scaring from even simplest of jobs are leading to higher stress levels not only among adult but also among all class people. In view of this fact, it has become extremely imperative to balance the stress in our lives. Also employers look more at person’s emotional level quotient than his intelligence level. Therefore, the IT industry was chosen for the study and analysis conducted on some of the employed to better understand the emotional intelligence levels of the employees working in a fast paced industry
