Abstract :

To assess lead levels in school going children of Ahmedabad, 233 school children between 3–7 years of age were investigated for blood lead levels (BLLs). Blood samples were micro–digested for analysis of lead by Atomic absorption spectrophotometer using graphite furnace technique (GF–AAS). The mean blood lead level and standard error among school children was found to be 2.82±0.17 mg/dL. However, three children had blood lead levels more than 10mg/dL. The blood lead levels were influenced by personal habits and style of playing with a toy and category of toys
