Decisional Balance Scale for College Students Level of Motivation in Physical Activity

The variables were </span><span style="font-size:12.0pt;line-height:150%;font-family:"Times New Roman",serif; mso-fareast-font-family:SimSun;mso-bidi-font-weight:bold">analyzed </span><span style="font-size:12.0pt;line-height:150%;font-family:"Times New Roman",serif; mso-fareast-font-family:SimSun">using <b>IBM.SPSSv.23</b> Statistics, with sampled participants of</span><span style="font-size:12.0pt; line-height:150%;font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"> <b>500, </b>having a response rate of 100% and a mean and standard deviation (SD) age of <b>28.5</b></span><b><span style="font-size:12.0pt;line-height: 150%;font-family:"Times New Roman",serif;mso-fareast-font-family:"MS Gothic"">±</span></b><b><span style="font-size:12.0pt;line-height: 150%;font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">9.5</span></b><span style="font-size: 12.0pt;line-height:150%;font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"> ranged from <b>19-38</b> </span><span style="font-size: 12.0pt;line-height:150%;font-family:"Times New Roman",serif;mso-fareast-font-family: SimSun">years selected using</span><span style="font-size:12.0pt;line-height: 150%;font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"> a simple random sampling method. <o:p></o:p></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify;line-height:150%"><b><i><span style="font-size:12.0pt;line-height:150%;font-family:"Times New Roman",serif; mso-fareast-font-family:SimSun">Results:</span></i></b><span style="font-size: 12.0pt;line-height:150%;font-family:"Times New Roman",serif;mso-fareast-font-family: SimSun"> A significant difference was recorded for all tested variables in the results with </span><b><span style="font-size:12.0pt; line-height:150%;font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">disadvantages (cons)</span></b><span style="font-size:12.0pt;line-height:150%;font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"> scoring highest [F = 47.360 with sig. (</span><span style="font-size:12.0pt;line-height:150%;font-family:"Times New Roman",serif; mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Roman"">≤.001</span><span style="font-size: 12.0pt;line-height:150%;font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">)] and <b>advantages (pros.)</b> scoring lowest [F = 18.167 with sig. </span><span style="font-size:12.0pt;line-height:150%; font-family:"Times New Roman",serif;mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Roman"">≤.001</span><span style="font-size:12.0pt;line-height:150%;font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">), t = -3.248 with 2-tailed sig. (.001)], in tables 3, 4 & 5 respectively.</span><span style="font-size:12.0pt;line-height:150%;font-family:"Times New Roman",serif; mso-fareast-font-family:SimSun"> </span><span lang="EN-GB" style="font-size:12.0pt; line-height:150%;font-family:"Times New Roman",serif;mso-ansi-language:EN-GB">The results</span><span style="font-size:12.0pt;line-height:150%;font-family:"Times New Roman",serif; mso-fareast-font-family:SimSun"> were tested </span><b><span style="font-size:12.0pt;line-height:150%;font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">@</span></b><span style="font-size:12.0pt;line-height:150%;font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"> significance level of <b><i>p<0.05</i></b>.<o:p></o:p></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:12.0pt;text-align:justify;line-height: 150%;mso-pagination:none;mso-layout-grid-align:none;text-autospace:none"><b><i><span style="font-size:12.0pt;line-height:150%;font-family:"Times New Roman",serif; mso-fareast-font-family:SimSun">Conclusion and Recommendation:</span></i></b><span style="font-size:12.0pt;line-height:150%;font-family:"Times New Roman",serif; mso-fareast-font-family:SimSun"> </span><span style="font-size:12.0pt; line-height:150%;font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">In conclusion, the greater majority of the overall participants responded more to disadvantages (cons) of the decisions to exercise, which means lesser determination to engage in physical activity. </span><span lang="EN-GB" style="font-size:12.0pt; line-height:150%;font-family:"Times New Roman",serif;mso-ansi-language:EN-GB">Recommendation</span><span lang="EN-GB" style="font-size:12.0pt;line-height:150%;font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"> </span><span style="font-size:12.0pt;line-height:150%;font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">was made that, a mandatory course/programme in physical education/literacy be instituted to help educate the pros and cons of physical activity for all college students before graduation to guarantee motivation.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
